Well, I have to say, not only is this one of my favourite tunes of all time, but the drumming is effortless and so groovy. The groove goes on and on and on, it's so good. Also, that right hand 1/16th groove on the hats is, well, pretty tiring I would imagine. Reminds me of a video I have of jaco and erskoman, and erskoman is also playing a ridiculously fast 1/16th right hand to 'the chicken',( and wearing a frenchmans stripey top, but with no onions around his neck [img]tongue.gif[/img] ). I've no idea how he does it.

Anyway, enjoy the groove! THIS is what it's all about. In my book anyway.

hey Rudy... opening up my computer this morning, I listened to your Jarreay piece and it made me get my old 33 record our of my collection called "Breakin' Away.

Had to get my old turntable out, connect it, and I rediscovered Al Jarreau. Funny thing, is that when I bought this album, I was not aware that Steve Gadd and Abe Laboriel Sr were on it !!!
This was recorded in 1981.

Thanks for making me rediscover this, on a gloomy Sunday morning !

Definitely has the "Georgie Porgie" feel. Jeff also nails a similar R&B type tune on a sweet George Benson song (forgot name)--LA D, you got this one?

It sounds like Joe does give that rt hand a little break when he plays 8th's (combo of 8th's & 16th's) on the ride during the chrous. Jeff did this a lot on the chrous and then back into it during the verse. Playing to, "I Keep Forgettin'" over and over again is a good way to build up the one hand thing.

Nice stuff.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I got lucky. A friend of mine has given me long term access to his ftp, so I can upload more. Right, here's 'Take5'. And Dazzler, check this one out too. Oh, the main ride he uses later on in the song is the one that my Istanbul is almost identical to.

Willie, I'm pretty sure he is playing that hihat one handed, the accenting and the energy of it sort of gives that away to my ears. But, I could be wrong.
